COMPETITION RULES – SEASON 2006/ 2007
General Rules (applied to all competitions)
· Player should be available to play at 8.00pm
· Matches should be played on or before the specified date – If you wish to rearrange a game please advise the competitions secretary by phone or email
· Results must be submitted to the comps secretary within 5 days of the match – BYE will be entered for no result. For Singles/Doubles results can be phoned or emailed in. For team comps, the winning team is responsible for posting the score card to the comps secretary.
Singles (Mens & Ladies)
· World Rules apply with MSPL amendments as per league games
· Game should be claimed if opponent is not at the arranged venue by 8.30pm
· Number of frames to play:
o All games up to and including the Quarter Finals: Best of 5
o Semi-final: Best of 7
o Final: Best of 9
Doubles (inc Mixed)
· World Rules apply with MSPL amendments as per league games
· Number of frames to play: as per singles above
· Partners may only confer for 60 seconds per visit. Please see rule 50 for details.
Team Knockout & Consolation Plate
· World Rules apply with MSPL amendments as per league games
· Players must play the format specified on the score card (Single frames games, first to eight)
101+ Memorial Cup (NOTE: Significant changes here)
· World Rules apply (only some rules are relevant)
o Ball must hit cushion after object ball is hit or a ball must be potted
o White must be placed behind the lines (previously allowed on the line)
o A ball dropping without being touched by another ball or player is replaced with no penalty.
o 4 balls must hit the cushion from the break
o Cue ball potted on the break no longer carries a 5 point penalty as long as 4 balls hit the cushion. The turn just passes to the opponent.
o If fair break is not achieved (less than four balls hit and nothing potted) then re-rack, 5 point penalty given and opponent breaks with one visit and same obligation to achieve a fair break.
· Players must play the format specified on the score card.
· Winner is the team with the most points when at least one team scores more than 101 points and the end of the frame has been reached.
· 5 points deducted for all fouls (except potting cue ball from the break. see above)
· No points awarded for balls potted on a foul shot
· Legally potted Black = 1 point unless potted last then, legally potted Black = 5 points
· Failure to pot off the break, and fair break achieved means turn passes to opponent. A 2nd visit is never awarded on 101+
